Eileen Martin – Biography

Eileen Martin is a committed rural leader and community advocate from Peterborough, South Australia. She is passionate about strengthening resilience, wellbeing, and social connection across drought-affected communities. Known for her warm, collaborative approach, Eileen brings people together, listens deeply, and supports practical, community-led solutions that reflect local needs.

As Co-founder and Secretary of the Peterborough Drought Ready Group, Eileen helps coordinate initiatives that build drought preparedness, promote mental health awareness, and reduce social isolation. She plays a key role in creating inclusive spaces where community members feel supported, connected, and confident to engage. Her leadership is grounded in authenticity, empathy, and lived rural experience.

With a background in agriculture, education, and community care, Eileen understands the diverse pressures faced by regional communities. This experience shapes her people-first approach and her ability to work effectively with families, service providers, and volunteer networks.

Eileen is a proud 2023 Alumni of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation’s Drought Resilience Leaders Program and 2026 National Mentoring Initiative Program as a Mentoring Mentee, which strengthened her leadership capability and expanded her regional networks.

She is also an active volunteer, known for her reliability, positivity, and strong commitment to rural wellbeing. Eileen has recently commenced as Support Officer for the Regional Drought Resilience Plan – Social Outcome Grants (FDFCP) with FRRR, where she supports grant processes focused on improving social outcomes in drought-impacted regions. She remains a passionate advocate for strong, connected, and empowered rural communities.
